  1. A father-figure to all with whom he shared his love for music. Mr. Woods’s selflessness, wisdom, and gentleness continues to shape his students with each passing day. How remarkable that one man could raise generations of children into upright adults. My dear teacher lives on in spirit. May he rest peacefully in the eternal presence of God.

  2. Thank you Mr. Woods for the greatest Jr High and High School years I could have imagined.. I loved every minute in your choir classes and all the wonderful trips to Lazy W, Chicago, Flagstaff, Paris (my favorite – singing at Notre Dame!) and Vancouver. I am so blessed to have had you as a friend and choir teacher. I know you and Ron are conducting choirs of Angels right now and having the best time in Heaven. You will never be forgotten and I will always continue to sing because of you.

  3. Peace and strength to your family at this transitional time. Your spirit will shine on your wife, daughter and grandkids as you join your son once again. They are lucky to have their angels looking over them.

I will never forget when Mr. Woods taught us Sicut Cervus my freshman year. When I encountered this piece again in college, I remembered his classroom and his tough love every time it was rehearsed or performed.
What a wonderful teacher, and a tremendous loss. Thank you, Mr. Woods, for giving so many of us your generous spirit and love for music.

ita desiderat anima mea ad te Deus.

  5. I know I am not the only life that you touched. You were an incredible educator, an honorable mentor, and a friend that only comes along once in a lifetime. You molded futures. Without a doubt, you were one of the finest educators I will ever know, and the same can be said for hundreds of other students whose lives you changed. While you were changing lives and pushing students to be as successful as you knew they could be, you never asked for anything from anyone. Endlessly you helped others, believed in others, and supported others all while never asking for help. I know I can never thank you for everything but thank you for believing in me when I did not believe in myself. Thank you for all the corny jokes and silly nicknames. Thank you for aiding the direction of my career path. Thank you for being the one to speak at my graduation and send off my class as we embarked on our separate journeys. Thank you for gracing my life with your presence in it, thank you for the memories, and thank you for leaving your handprint on my heart. Because of you, I will never stop listening to the “Music of My Heart, I will always reach out to others and I will do everything with passion like you had for teaching and I will never forget you
