It is with shock, disbelief and a feeling of great loss to learn of the passing of my friend and fellow co-worker. Someone I worked shoulder to shoulder with on many tough problems at JPL and came away each time with a deeper appreciation of his talents and expertise. He was an excellent person with a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed. It is with much sorrow that I say, “Go with God, Noel and may perpetual light shine upon you”.

  2. I met Noel around 1996 when we were in the same group at JPL. He was smart and funny and kind. He was a fun person to hang out with and share a laugh. He was also a good mentor. One time when I was feeling overwhelmed with all the work our project manager was sending my way, he talked to me about how you have to manage your managers. I will miss him.

  3. Noel’s first cousin Bob Burden and family express our deepest sympathies to his brother Jerry, daughter Staci and their immediate family.
Noel was the older brother I never had and I have many fond memories of him. As cousins growing up in So Calif, Noel and Jerry with their dad Clare would come to visit us in the Antelope Valley where we would go rabbit hunting.
Noel got me interested in math and computers when I was a teenager and it led to a lifelong career with IBM, for which I could never thank him enough.
I will miss him very much…

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Noel. I met Noel at JPL in 1984. One of the things that impressed me about him was his kindness. He was a gentleman who never spoke unkindly about anyone. He was a source of encouragement when I was going through some tough times. When I think of him I can hear his voice and see his smile. As one of my co-workers said, Noel was a good man and he will be missed greatly.

Noel, Scotty Taylor and I met for lunch nearly every Thursday or Friday for the last ten years. Conversations usually centered around JPL experiences, cars, and planning our next trip to Thailand, mixed with a whole lot of kidding around.

Noel was a close friend of our family who helped us move into our home and shared some Memorial Days, July Fourths, Labor Days and Thanksgivings with us. He traveled to Thailand with us to see my inlaws three or four times. I’ll always remember the screams of joy from our oldest daughter Rachel, then aged 4, as Noel bounced her on his good knee seemingly forever to the chagrin of most passengers who were trying to sleep. And oh, the fun we had in Thailand!

Noel was a great friend. It was tough explaining to our kids that he is gone now. We miss Noel dearly.
