Obituary
Noel Henry Burden passed away peacefully on October 5, 2009, at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial after succumbing to injuries resulting from a September 7th car accident.
Noel was born in Kansas on June 1, 1940. He lived most of his life in Arcadia, California, and had a successful career for over 30 years at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. After retiring in 2003, he enjoyed his free time indulging his love for classic cars and taking vacations to Thailand with friends.
He is loved and missed by his daughter Staci, brother Jerry, and numerous family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at O’Connor Mortuary 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills 92653 on Sunday, October 18th at 1:00. A reception will immediately follow at Mimi’s Cafe 22651 Lake Forest Dr., Lake Forest 92630.

This is Mike Saul. I worked with Noel in the 70’s at JPL. We launched to Mars, to Mercury, to Venus and to just about every planet out there. We lived as brothers! We drank some beer, we traveled to the “Cape” and we shot a bunch of pool on every pool table available to us. I was in my 20’s then. I am now in my late 70’s! Where has the time gone Noel? I miss you Buddy and I will see you soon but until then, my heart is with JPL and getting my Grandson into Astronomy and maybe one day he will finish what we started! Love You, Mike

If anyone wishes to learn what “our wild group” did during our early years at JPL I will be willing to tell of our escapades. I am sorry but I can’t remember Noel’s wife’s name, but she was a lovely lady and my phone is: 541 580-7812up here in Oregon.
