Obituary

Natalie Marie Foster was born in Riverside California September 16, 1983. She died on April 13th, 2010 at home in San Clemente surrounded by her family.

Natalie was the baby of three girls and was stricken with Rett Syndrome a severe neurologic disease that affects girls both mentally and physically. She bravely fought for 26 years, which was more than predicted for her life. Natalie through it all was always a happy, congenial girl and for most of her life wore a big smile. She attended school and graduated from Tesoro High School special education program.

Although Natalie never spoke a word and spent the last 12 years of her life in a wheelchair, she had a lasting impact on all who knew her and left a special mark on this world.

She was the light of her family’s life and will forever be missed.

She was preceded in death by her older sister Christina who also died of complications of Rett Syndrome in December of 2000.

Natalie is survived by her mom Susan Foster, dad Ralph Foster, big sister Nicole Carlson, brother-in-law Craig Carlson, and niece Chloe Carlson.

Fly away our sweet angel, be with your sister free at last in a place free of pain, free to walk and run, free to talk to your hearts desire. We will miss you with all our hearts but we know that you are finally free at last in a place more beautiful than we can imagine.

Forever loved,
Mom, Dad, Nicole, Craig and Chloe

  1. Dear Ralph, Suzie and the Foster family,

    There are no words appropriate for such a loss. We are deeply, deeply sad. Our thoughts are with you.

  2. Kimberlee says:

    I’m so sorry fo ur loss. I remember Natalie, she always had a smile on. When ever I was around her I couldn’t help but smile too. She will be missed by all.

  3. Dear Fosters,

    God Bless You. Natalie was not only beautiful but sweet natured. She will be missed but as you said in a place where she and her sister can be free of pain.

  4. Although I never got to meet Natalie, I felt I knew her through knowing you both Ralph and Susan, and through the many pictures and stories shared over the years. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and Nicole too, as you grieve your loss yet celebrate Natalie’s life and the wonderful gifts she left behind.

  5. I remember going to school with Nathalie. I was an aid for Lucille and all of them from my freshmen to my senior year. Nathalie was such an amazing girl, full of laughter and love. May she finally rest in peace with Christina.

    There Is No Death

    There is a plan far greater than the plan you know;
    There is a landscape broader than the one you see.
    There is a haven where storm-tossed souls may go-
    You call it death – we, immortality.
    You call it death – this seeming endless sleep;
    We call it birth – the soul at last set free.
    ‘Tis hampered not by time or space – you weep.
    Why weep at death? ‘Tis immortality.

    Farewell, dear voyageur -’twill not be long.
    Your work is done – now may peace rest with thee.
    Your kindly thoughs and deeds- they will live on.
    This is not death -’tis immortality.

    Farewell, dear voyageur – the river winds and turns;
    The cadence of your song wafts near to me,
    And now you know the thing that all men learn:
    There is no death – there’s immortality.
