Melvin Drummond
(Mel, Drum, or Dub)

Melvin was born in Arkansas and graduated from Sparkman High School in 1953. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served three years. He attended Henderson College for four years and then moved to California and took flying lessons. Mel loved airplanes and flying.

He worked in management for Thrifty Drug Store and retired after 20 years. He also tried real estate for a while. Mel drove a bus for Laguna Woods senior citizens for 14 years, but cancer made him so weak that he had to quit. He really loved that job and the people he met every day. He loved his neighbors and visiting the local pastry shop each morning for coffee and pastry.

Mel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda & David Alicea and Elena & Vinnie Bricoccoli; grandchildren, Darrel Matheisen Jr., David Matheisen, Eve Alicea, Chris Alicea, Rachel Alicea, Claudette Bricoccoli and Tristan Bricoccoli; twin sister Geraldine Presley; nieces and nephews, Beverly Jan Lynons, Karen Sue McShane and Terry Melvin Presley.
