Obituary

. ‘Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.’ —Albert Einstein

Doctor Marc Adam Lazzara was one of those men who could make you smile while he was injecting you by just cracking a joke or playfully teasing. Countless patients would walk out of his office with an immense grin on their face and a happy demeanor. Dr. Lazzara’s attributes extended into his family life, he was a dedicated and affectionate dad. He also became a second father to many of his children’s friends and to his own nephews and nieces. His personality can only be described as quirky, invigorating, ebullient and exuberant.

He was born in California on May 9, 1958 to David and Irene Lazzara. Dr. Lazzara was lovingly married to his wife Bernadette Tong for twenty years. They have two wonderful children, Kurt 18 and Audrey 15.

Dr. Lazzara received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1997. He obtained his Prolotherapy training from the Medical School of Wisconsin.

He has been helping people for eight years through his specialty in Prolotherapy, which dealt with underlying issues of chronic pain that affords a nonsurgical approach to musculoskeletal problems. Dr. Lazzara was the Program Chairman and President-elect of the National Prolotherapy Foundation, the American College of Osteopathic Schlerotheraputic Pain Management and sat on the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies for the guidance and overview of Osteopathic medicine.

He was more than a doctor, he was a thoughtful and fun father and friend. His attitude towards life was what really made Marc an exceptional and unparalleled person. Everyone who knows him well or only met him once is certain that God is laughing alongside Marc.

Marc Lazzara is survived by his wife Bernadette, son Kurt, daughter Audrey, parents David and Irene, siblings Cathy, David and Susan and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

  1. Sending my Love and Prayers to the Lazzara Family…
My heart breaks over Marc”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s untimely death. I will miss Marc terribly and grieve this difficult loss. He was a true friend and an incredible Doctor. My life has been forever changed because of his determination and persistence. Marc has done so much for me and for countless others. I was His first patient at Irvine. I came to Marc after everyone else had given up on me UCI, USC, etc. They had left me with failed surgeries and permanent injuries; in excruciating pain, braces from neck to ankles; and, with the expectation I would be soon permanently wheelchair bound. They said there were no treatments only pain management and a downward progression. I left
them when they pushed for a morphine implant pump. I decided I would kill myself before I existed like that. Marc gave me a reason to have hope again; and, a reason to trust Doctors again. He made no promises; just refused to give up! Marc significantly changed my health and quality of life. Over the years, He became a trusted friend. When the Passion came out; we talked a lot about it; he had Kurt and Audrey see it because he knew that each of us must make a decision for ourselves to have a personal relationship with and salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Some have been concerned about Marc”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s colorful language; Christ only saw Marc”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s enourmous heart! I could always see Christ”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢ reflection there! Mark lived his life giving his all to all. He was such a bright and shining example of being Jesus”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢ Hands and Feet. True faith in action. Why God chose to take him so early is hard to fathom. I simply can”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢t. In faith we accept God”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã¢”žÂ¢s plan. For now we know that”°Ã¢”šÂ¬? “°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…”to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” II Cor. 5:8 “°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…”Though my flesh it be destroyed, yet with my eyes I will see God. For I know that my Redeemer lives, and I will stand with him on that day!”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Â Job 19:25-27 And that”°Ã¢”šÂ¬?”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” Death is swallowed up in Victory.”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” I Cor. 15:54 For”°Ã¢”šÂ¬?”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…”Precious in the sight of the Lord is the Death of His Saints.”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” PS 116: 15 Because”°Ã¢”šÂ¬? Jesus said, “°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” I am He that lives and was dead and am alive forevermore and have the keys of death!”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Ã…” Rev. 1:18 Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life: He that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And who so ever lives and believes in me shall never die! Believe thou this?”°Ã¢”šÂ¬Â John 11:25-26

  2. Marc was a ray of sunshine in the life of everyone who met him. He was the most giving individual I have ever met. He would always offer to help in any way he could. I’ll remember him most for his passion for life and his family. God be with you Marc for you have certainly earned your way to Heaven.

  3. Dr. Lazzara will be truly missed by my husband and I. You are right he would make you happy even when he was giving you an injection or an IV or discussing treatment plans and test results. We wish the best to you and your children. Sincerely, Roger and Patti Bangerter

  4. Dr. Lazzara,

We love you and miss you…he was more than a Dr. to our family..he had become a friend whom we could share many laughters, trials and tribulations with. You trusted your first commercial property transaction with us and we are forever grateful. Many hours were spent getting you exactly what you wanted, and without hesitation you kept pushing until the deal was right. Praise God… after several months of hard work you got the deal!

I know that his work is not done, for the Lord will have him busy orchestrating healing from the Heavens above. Although we were in your life for 5 years it felt more like a lifetime relationship. Our bi-weekly visits with your for the past year were enjoyable and will allow us joyous memories for years to come, aside from the large needles. Rest in Peace my friend you will be missed dearly….See you on the other side!

  5. We are saddened to hear of Dr. Lazzara’s untimely death and our prayers are with his family. We just recently met Dr. Lazzara though my husband being a patient. Even then Dr. left such a lasting impression on both of us. He is a person that you liked from the start and knew immediately that he had your best interest at heart. He was a person that gave his best right from the beginning, wanting only to help to heal. We will miss seeing him now, but I thank God he is a christian for I know we will meet him again in heaven. May his family find strength and comfort in the shelter of God’s loving arms.
