Obituary

. ‘Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.’ —Albert Einstein

Doctor Marc Adam Lazzara was one of those men who could make you smile while he was injecting you by just cracking a joke or playfully teasing. Countless patients would walk out of his office with an immense grin on their face and a happy demeanor. Dr. Lazzara’s attributes extended into his family life, he was a dedicated and affectionate dad. He also became a second father to many of his children’s friends and to his own nephews and nieces. His personality can only be described as quirky, invigorating, ebullient and exuberant.

He was born in California on May 9, 1958 to David and Irene Lazzara. Dr. Lazzara was lovingly married to his wife Bernadette Tong for twenty years. They have two wonderful children, Kurt 18 and Audrey 15.

Dr. Lazzara received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1997. He obtained his Prolotherapy training from the Medical School of Wisconsin.

He has been helping people for eight years through his specialty in Prolotherapy, which dealt with underlying issues of chronic pain that affords a nonsurgical approach to musculoskeletal problems. Dr. Lazzara was the Program Chairman and President-elect of the National Prolotherapy Foundation, the American College of Osteopathic Schlerotheraputic Pain Management and sat on the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies for the guidance and overview of Osteopathic medicine.

He was more than a doctor, he was a thoughtful and fun father and friend. His attitude towards life was what really made Marc an exceptional and unparalleled person. Everyone who knows him well or only met him once is certain that God is laughing alongside Marc.

Marc Lazzara is survived by his wife Bernadette, son Kurt, daughter Audrey, parents David and Irene, siblings Cathy, David and Susan and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

  1. I had been in such pain and for so long that I had seriously considered suicide as an option. Dr. Lazzaro was my last chance, and he literally saved my life and made it worth living again. Although it took a lot of his time, he never gave up on me, and kept me laughing through all of his treatments. He was an amazing doctor, friend and man, and I want his family to know what a difference he made in the lives of his patients. Bernadette, you and your kids were his strength and gave him his passion for life and for helping others. I will pray for you each day that God walk with your through this difficult journey, and that He remember His promise that we will all rejoice in heaven again one day.

Dr. Lazzara was a one-of-a-kind doctor. He returned my call for a consultation on a Saturday. I joked with him then that he couldn’t be a “real” doctor if he was returning my call in person on a Saturday. Dr. Lazzara got me back on the tennis court after my orthopedic surgeon said “no more tennis”. I hope to see him in heaven one day. May God Bless his family and bring them peace.

  3. We are so very sad to have Marc leave us. He was full of vibrant energy that seemed endless. Flossie Marc nicknamed her as the “cookie lady” for always bringing cookies for the whole family to her doctor appointments & I looked forward to seeing Marc because he was so pleasant to be with even though the injections he administered hurt. We feel very fortunate to have been invited to Marc’s surprise fiftieth birthday. The testimonials from his patents showed that he had a true passion to seeing people healed. We both were so impressed with his dedication to his work like receiving a phone call on a holiday to see how Flossie was feeling and driving to his office to help her. We feel very fortunate to have had Marc in our lives. We will never forget him! We are presently away on a family retreat and unable to attend the funeral. Bernadette, Elizabeth and family, we send you are deepest sympathies and with time may peace prevail over your pain. With our love, Flossie & John

I first met Dr. Lazzara a number of years ago playing basketball in an Irvine city league. He had a wonderful outside shot which he didn’t mind shooting from long range. A little over a year ago I had the pleasure of being successfully treated by Marc. It was such a great experience that when my daughter and a good friend were injured I had them treat with Marc as well. All three of us throughly enjoyed Marc’s positive outlook on life, his “quirky” sense of humor, and the successful results for our treatment. He will be missed as both a tremendous person and doctor. I am very thankful for having known Marc. God Bless You.

Your loss is shared by everyone who has ever had the the unforgetable pleaure of meeting a truly loving, compassionate, knowledgeable
human being. A man who exemplified all that is Good in Humanity. I am sure he and the Lord, as Marc did with us all, are having a few chuckles together right now.
