Obituary

. ‘Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.’ —Albert Einstein

Doctor Marc Adam Lazzara was one of those men who could make you smile while he was injecting you by just cracking a joke or playfully teasing. Countless patients would walk out of his office with an immense grin on their face and a happy demeanor. Dr. Lazzara’s attributes extended into his family life, he was a dedicated and affectionate dad. He also became a second father to many of his children’s friends and to his own nephews and nieces. His personality can only be described as quirky, invigorating, ebullient and exuberant.

He was born in California on May 9, 1958 to David and Irene Lazzara. Dr. Lazzara was lovingly married to his wife Bernadette Tong for twenty years. They have two wonderful children, Kurt 18 and Audrey 15.

Dr. Lazzara received his undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University and his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1997. He obtained his Prolotherapy training from the Medical School of Wisconsin.

He has been helping people for eight years through his specialty in Prolotherapy, which dealt with underlying issues of chronic pain that affords a nonsurgical approach to musculoskeletal problems. Dr. Lazzara was the Program Chairman and President-elect of the National Prolotherapy Foundation, the American College of Osteopathic Schlerotheraputic Pain Management and sat on the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies for the guidance and overview of Osteopathic medicine.

He was more than a doctor, he was a thoughtful and fun father and friend. His attitude towards life was what really made Marc an exceptional and unparalleled person. Everyone who knows him well or only met him once is certain that God is laughing alongside Marc.

Marc Lazzara is survived by his wife Bernadette, son Kurt, daughter Audrey, parents David and Irene, siblings Cathy, David and Susan and numerous relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

  1. Dr. Marc was unique and stellar in his field. I will truly miss him. He cannot be replaced. He and his family feel like mine. I know I will see him again in heaven. He had a strong faith in Jesus. We will all have a great reunion! Your friend, Judy Johnston

  2. I met Dr. Lazzara 4/2 years ago when I first moved to CA. I had a a sports related injury that needed attention. My first appointment with Marc was just amazing, he was so knowledgeable and warm. Soon after meeting Marc my son Zack then 3 years old at the time had a really bad infection and was rushed to the hospital. The ER Dr. there did not know how to treat my sons illness, in a panic I contacted Marc at home on a Saturday and asked for his advice, he told me to meet him at his office in 15 minutes and he would take a look at him. He knew exactly what to do and took care of my son and the kicker was when I went to pay him for his services he said not to worry about it and just take my son home and take care of him. He really was an amazing man I will miss him dearly. I always enjoyed my visit to his office as I knew he would take care of any issue I had and I would walk out with a smile on my face. He had a real passion for his profession and life. May God bless him, and take care of Bernadette and his two children. He truly was one in a million.

Dr. Lazzara was more than a doctor to me, he was like a best friend and I will truly miss him. He always said I was nuts for playing baseball and pitching at my age in my 50’s. He helped me so many times with my pitching arm and other ailments.

I always walked out of his office with a smile on my face because he made me laugh all the time as I did make him laugh as well. Thank you Dr. Lazzara for being there for me. I can proudly say that you were the best doctor I ever had.

May God Bless you for all you have done to help people, but most of all, how much you cared about us.

  4. Dr Lazzara, I’m forever grateful for healing by back. I considered you a friend not just my Dr. You will be terribly missed by all of us who have felt your healing touch. May God bless and keep Bernadette and your family safe. Love Roseamry and Carlos Galindo.

  5. Dr. Mark was a great friend and as a Doctor genuinely cared about the progress of each of his patients. He loved to play basketball, and was very good at it. Our prayers are with his family. I will miss him very much. Scott McDaniel
