John David McNicol was born on October 17, 1966, the fourth child of Marlene and James McNicol. His father James was an engineer in the aerospace industry and he and his family were living in Bangkok, Thailand where John was born. They also lived in Pennsylvania and Florida during John’s childhood before settling in Southern California. He graduated from Tustin High School and received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. John was the CFO of XcellWave, a technical services provider to the wireless communication industry and the President of Aircraft Information Services, Inc., appraisers of commercial aviation. He was a member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Traders and a certified ISTAT Appraiser, one of only about 40 in the world. He was well respected in his industry and in all aspects of his life.
John and Elaine were married for over 20 years and have three beautiful children: Ashley, Rachel and Kyle. They created a warm and loving home together for their family, and friends always felt invited. He was a loving and caring husband and father, attending everything in which his children participated. He loved to travel with his family, taking them on many wonderful trips and reveled in the planning and preparation to make each trip perfect.
John passed away on November 13, 2010, after a 7-month battle with Leukemia. He is survived by his wife Elaine; children, Ashley, Rachel and Kyle; mother, Marlene McNicol, sister, Susan Keith Robishaw; brothers, Peter Sheryl McNicol and James Tanya McNicol; six nieces; one nephew; and many more family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
