  3. I was honored and privileged to be a part of Dr. Vinh’s services this past weekend. I never met Dr. Vinh, but became close with his family during the time we were planning his services and during his services. I LOVED hearing the stories of his life, from Kim, Diana, James and his brothers-in-law, David, Daniel and Tom. I am sorry that I did not know Dr. Vinh while he was alive, but so happy to learn about him from the people who loved him the most. I am not a Buddhist, but as the funeral director, I was called upon to help dress Dr. Vinh in the traditional burial clothes. It was such a privilege to do this to help honor him as he so deserved. All of the ceremonies were beautiful, but I was especially touched by the outpouring of love from his friends and family evidenced by all of the flowers at the celebrations of life and also by the tribute as the parakeets were freed at Pacific View. I am not familiar with Buddhist ceremonies, but to me, seeing the birds fly away was symbolic of Dr. Vinh’s spirit being freed. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the way you honored Dr. Vinh’s life. All my best, Terese Henriks (from O’Connor Mortuary)

  4. Dan Shih says:

It was so sad to hear the news about our beloved friend Dr. Vinh who departed from us on April 17th. As a colleague, we worked very closely for some twenty years at AEP. We spent days, weeks and months together dealing with many challenging tasks. With his strong academic training and high level of professional disciplines, his work still serves as models and guidelines in many fields. On the personal side, we admire his devotion and love to his wife and family, His personality both within and outside the office drew high regard and respect from everyone who had the privilege to know him.

My condolence to Kim and family. May the precious memory ever be with you all in the days and years to come. We are as proud as you are to have been friends in his life.

  5. At the AEP electrical laboratory, and a couple of projects before that, I worked with Tieu Vinh for several years before I learned that he was a PHD. He was so modest and was a delightful and professional person to work with.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.
