Born July 13, 1923 ~ Riga Latvia
Died March 16, 2009 ~ Irvine, California
Rita is survived by her daughter, Ilga Berzins and her sister, Melanie Berzins.
She fled the Russian occupation of Latvia and landed at New York City to start a new life. She lived in Indianapolis, IN, Santa Barbara, CA and finally Irvine, CA with her daughter. She loved to travel, was a really good artist and loved all her dogs like they were her children.

So sad to hear of your mother’s passing. I loved seeing the pictures! I remember meeting her with you and I know that she brought you great joy in her final days, like Peets did for me. Even with the sadness, I feel being able to spend that time with my mother was one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. You had your mother for such a long time and that was truly a blessing.
