Obituary
Sherri Lynn Matlock, 65, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 7, 2020. She was born May 5, 1955 in Maywood, CA to Walt and Dixie Hudson and raised in California and Oregon. On June 25, 1977, she married George Lee Matlock in Alameda, CA, settling in Pomona. Prior to moving to Laguna Hills five years ago, they lived in Northern California and raised four sons.
Sherri was a loving wife, dedicated mother, wonderful grandmother, and loyal friend to all. She devoted her time to serving the Lord and caring for her family. She was an active member of the church families in Saddleback Valley church of Christ in Irvine, Alameda church of Christ, and Dublin church of Christ. Sherri’s favorite activity was spending quality time with her children and grandchildren and going on outdoor adventures with her husband. Her other interests included visiting Disneyland, antiquing, collecting Victorian-era figurines and paintings, and being in service to others (whom she always put before herself).
She is survived by her husband George of 43 years; sons Jacob, Joshua, Daniel, and David; daughters-in-law Anai, Kimberly, and Laura; grandchildren Jacob Jr., Robert, Alayna, Samuel, Walter, Julia, Cole, Juliette, and Caitlyn; sister Lori and her family; sister Cindy and her family; sister-in-law Bev and family; mother-in-law Masayo; sister-in-law Mary and her family; and sister-in-law Belinda and her family.
Sherri spent her last few days smiling, enjoying time with her family, and helping others. Her family is comforted knowing Sherri is with God and we can see her again one day.

Sending all of our love and prayers to your family. We pray that God comfort them during this time and that His promises give them strength. Sherri’s laugh will always ring throughout my childhood memories of church gatherings. I look back and remember the patience she had as she chased around her boys when we were all little. Now having three boys of my own I know that it was no small feat and she always did it with a smile on her face. There are a handful of ladies in our congregation growing up that left their imprints on my heart and she was definitely one of them. I feel blessed to have known her. Praying we meet again in the heavenly land with no more sorrow or pain.

Even as our visits where short through the years, I will always remember Sherri’s love, kindness, and sense of humor the most.
