I shared very interesting discussions with Rich, many of them happened at weird hours for both of us. Because we were on a different sides of the Earth, they all happened very early for him and kind-of late for me. I always enjoyed them though. Having a business discussion at late hours of the day is typically not enjoyable, but having in with Rich was a great ending of the day. Such special things always stay with us.

Someone who can leave warm feeling in others hearts after only couple of interactions, must find a special place in heaven. Enjoy it Rich.

Rich was a co-worker of both Dina and myself at Continuus Software and I also had the pleasure of working with Rich at Access360 and IBM. While we both enjoyed working with Rich, we also considered him a friend, though we didn’t get to spend much time with him in recent years.

I can say that I, personally learned a lot from Rich during our time working together and I got to know him as a firm, business savvy guy, but underneath it all, he had a very warm heart. I think the reason Rich’s teams followed him from company to company was due to this. It was clear that Rich cared about all of us and he always went out of his way to let us know. It’s rare that an individual can be very clear and objective about what is expected of you in a professional sense (and hold you accountable), but also go out of his way to ask how you were doing and really listen to the answer with empathy and sincerity. He was always asking what he could do to make our lives easier.

Dina recently shared with me how much she appreciated Rich commenting whenever she put pictures of us together on Facebook. I think she has always appreciated his support of our relationship, which actually began while we worked together at Continuus and I have as well.

Rich is a person who we both appreciated and who had a real effect on our lives. He will be missed and we will think of him often. I hope he has reached some peace.

Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends. Please celebrate his extraordinary life.

    Steve and Dina Henning
