Obituary

Oscar De Jesus Faustino Gottardi was born December 19, 1943 to Olivia and Numa Gottardi and brother Ramon.  Oscar immigrated from Cuba to Miami, FL on July 8, 1961.  Oscar was honorably discharged from the United States Army in May 1963.  Oscar was married to Arlene Campbell on October 3, 1964.  They welcomed Oscar J. Gottardi II in Evanston, IL on January 26, 1970.  Oscar earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in 1977.  Arlene and Oscar became foster parents to Margaret Callahan in 1981.  Oscar married Tina Tadros on  May 10, 1985.  In 1988 Oscar relocated to Orange County, CA to continue working for the government at the Internal Revenue Service.  Oscar retired from the I.R.S. in January 2005.  Oscar passed away peacefully Sunday, February 19, 2006 in Aliso Viejo, CA.  Oscar De Jesus Gottardi is survived by loving son Oscar J. Gottardi II; loving daughter Margaret Zapata and family; beloved brother Ramon Gottardi and family,  cousin Mercy Lamazares and family and many friends. Oscar was dearly loved by many, and he will be deeply missed by all.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 ~ 2:00 P.M. at O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, California 92653.

    I worked with Oscar at the IRS in Laguna Niguel. I always enjoyed talking with Oscar and it was interesting to hear him talk about his life in Cuba. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

    Sailing on the USS Bonhomme Richard to Hawaii to teach volunteer tax preparation VITA with Oscar is one of the most memorable and pleasant memories I have of my service with the IRS. We shared lots of good times. I will miss him.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Oscar. He was a very kind person and guided me when I became the Hispanic Heritage Employee Rep for the Southern CA District.

  5. My prayers and my heart go out to Oscars family. He was a big man yet a gentle soul. He had a kind word and a way of encouraging many. I really will miss seeing him drop by the building just to visit and chat.
    He will truly be missed.
