  1. John and Julie,

  3. Julie,

We knew you 5 years ago when Matthew played Jr. Clinic Patriots Football with our son, Michael. We can’t even begin to express our sorrow at this news. Matthew was a wonderful, respectful boy. Coach Bob and I always had a soft spot in our hearts for him. That was our favorite year of Patriots, mostly because we spent so much time with great families such as yours. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

    With Our Deepest Sympathy,

    Bob, Gina, Michael & Matthew

  4. Matt-
you were always such a sweet and kind person. I will always cherrish all the fun times we shared together. When we had the fourth grade fiesta, and when we went to Wild Rivers for my birthday party, it is those times I will keep close to my heart. I remember when you first came to Oak Grove Elementry School, and we were in the same class together, I thought you were very cute, and apparently, I wasn’t the only one. We always shared a special connection together and occasionally had those little “sparks.” lol It wasn’t until the middle/end of fourth grade when we both told each other how we felt. I still remember when we used to call each other and talk on the phone for about an hour every night, until one of us had to go. It was then that we became so called “boyfreind/girlfriend.” I was so happy, you were my first boyfriend, and I thought you were a great catch. You were cute, kind, and smart. As we approached middle school, we began to separate but we still talked and exchanged common smiles. However, when highschool came along we seemed to drift apart and when we would see each other, we would only look up. I would occasionally see you when I had crosscountry practice and you would always say ” run becca or run faster,” in a joking way. Although I never verbally aknowledged your funny comments, I always heard you. With you being gone, I feel like a part of my childhood has been taken away. Even though you looked punky on the outside, I knew that you were really a kind and gentle young man. Though I am sad to see you go, I know that you are watching down over us and are seeing just how many people really love you. I give my deepest sympathy and compassion to the Hubbard family and will constantly be praying for you. To Matt, you will always be in my heart and will continue to live on as MY “mother hubbard.”

    Love always your friend,
    Becca Portugal
