Obituary

After fighting the good fight against cancer, Loris Desa peacefully passed away on July 2nd, 2015, two weeks shy of his 42nd birthday. He was surrounded by his loving wife and soulmate Roopa, daughter Kaitlyn, and son Kevin. Loris was a devoted father, son, godfather and husband. He was loved and respected by all those who knew him. Loris was notorious for his quick wit and quirky sense of humor as evidenced in his love for Seinfeld. He never shied away from a great food experience and would drive any distance to find a great restaurant.

As he bravely battled cancer armed with the knowledge of his disease that even surprised his doctors, Loris’ resolve, positive attitude and selfless virtue inspired all those around him. His childlike spirit and magical persona was reflected in the way he loved his Kaitlyn and Kevin. In addition to his joie de vivre he was a logical and progressive thinker, but most of all he was a man with a deep-rooted faith in God and his church. Loris will be missed, but never forgotten, by all those whose lives he touched.

The family requests that Loris’ fight against cancer be continued by donations made to the City of Hope, in lieu of flowers.

  1. Roopa, There are no words that I could write that would in any way lessen your suffering. I wish there were. Last night, I could not fall asleep and instead my mind raced with thoughts and prayers for you. I prayed over and over that you were sleeping well. That through your sleep at 2am you were given a short reprieve from your pain. I prayed that Kaitlyn and Kevin were sleeping soundly. I prayed that you would be blessed with an overabundance of peace and comfort when you woke up and that you would be given strength beyond what you can imagine to get you through the next days, weeks, and years. I will continue to pray. Your Eyefinity family mourns with you and our hearts break because yours is broken. Cancer is ugly, ugly, ugly, but the one piece of beauty I see through it right now is your amazing love for your husband and how that love manifested itself into your babies and precious family. Kaitlyn and Kevin will always be reflections of their daddy and his memory will live on through them.

  2. This photo is so touching – and so heartbreaking. I cannot look at it without crying. It captures Loris’s love for his babies and them for him with such emotion. I pray that Kaitlyn and Kevin always know – and feel – Loris’s love for them.

  3. I work with Loris at AACN. I’ve only been here over a year so I didn’t know Loris that well except I got to know Loris a litle better at our All Team retreat last September. He and I sat across from each other during an exercise when we were tasked with sharing ourselves with each other. He was strong, devoted, and calm with a great smile. We will miss him here at AACN!

I’m so saddened by the passing of Loris. He was a highly respected, kind and caring colleague who brought a high level of professionalism and a wealth of knowledge to our AACN family. His quiet confidence and encouraging words always inspired me to reach higher. Loris never complained, and he fought so hard to be here at work with us…I know how much he wanted to contribute to our various projects. I will remember Loris for his genuine smile and easy going nature. I pray for comfort for his family and friends during this very difficult time.
