Obituary
Joyce Yvonne Rissling, 79, of Laguna Woods, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Easter morning April 12, 2020. She was born January 27, 1941 to parents Harold Hallmark and Jeanne Beaupréin Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Joyce graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Long Beach, CA in 1959 and received her B.S. in Medical Technology from Immaculate Heart College. Joyce is survived by Adolph, her husband of 52 years; her brothers Terry and Alan; her children Anita Grohmann (Jason), John (Trish), Anthony (Michelle), and Janna Mercado (Marcello); and her grandchildren Ondre, Dontae, Avery, Aiden, Gavin, Isaiah, Owen, Elizabeth & Myles.
She spent over 35 years of her career as a medical technician in the laboratory at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where she made lifelong friendships with the group she affectionately referred to as “The Golden Girls”. Joyce was very crafty and enjoyed scrapbooking, cake decorating and making pressed flower arrangements and greeting cards. She also loved to spend time with family and friends on summer trips to Lake Arrowhead, and family reunions in Canada.
Joyce loved the holidays, especially Christmas. The Rissling household went all out with decorations including artificial snow, “Merry Christmas” in dozens of languages, and a manger and nativity scene. She was also life-long Dodgers and Lakers fan.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point at a date and time to be determined.

My memories of my cousin Joyce are her sparkling eyes and her laughter… she loved her family deeply and cared for those she could.
God bless all of you in this time of sorrow.
Love always,
Yvonne

I am very saddened to hear about your Mom.
We became great friends when we. Met at Holly Cross School.
We had so much fun, together. It was one of my saddest days when I had to say goodbye to her when she left Winnipeg Manitoba. For Torrence California
Goodbye See you in Heaven…….

The Risslings are family and Joyce was like a mother to me too…she taught me to tie my shoes, skip (although as my sister noted was more of a gallup), I took my first step in her front yard, she made my birthday cakes, was there for every milestone and if I had anything to do about it I was at the Rissling’s home every waking hour of every day! Joyce was a saint for putting up with me for so long. The love, joy, and memories Joyce and the Rissling family have blessed me with is immeasurable… Of course the holidays especially Christmas were always unforgettable celebrations with lots of food, parties, and big family gatherings everyone enjoyed and loved, but to me everyday was a celebration at the Rissling’s and I couldn’t run across the street quick enough.. I am so grateful to Joyce for the love, guidance, support, and happiness she gifted me in life!!! I miss her so much…She was an inspiration in all she did but especially the mother she was! All her children carry on her legacy of being the most incredible parents, how lucky the world is to have people like the Rissling’s in the world! Thank you Joyce !!! God bless the Rissling family and our angel Joyce!!! We will meet again in heaven!!! Love to you all, my thoughts and prayers are with you!
