In Loving Memory

Joseph Lupo, of San Juan Capistrano, passed away at his home on December 31, 2012 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

A Vigil will be held on Friday, January 11th, 2013, 7-9 p.m. at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at The Mission San Juan Capistrano Basilica, 31522 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675. Officiant, Father Jim Nieblas. Mass will be followed by a reception at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, 26772 Avery Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.

Joseph was born in Newark, NJ to Lena and Louis Lupo. He was involved in Catholic Worker, Birth Right, Knights of Columbus and Cursillo of Orange County.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Lisa and Tara; son, Bo; grandchildren, Nicolas and Sophia; and brother, Larry.

He lived his relationship with Jesus so authentically that he leaves a wide wake of loving relationships in caring for the least of our brethren – a true friend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Isaiah House Catholic Worker, 316 S. Cypress Ave., Santa Ana, CA 92701-5808.

Most Important things I’ve learned from my father:

1. Most important relationship you will ever have is with God.

2. Most important thing you can ever do is be joyful.

3. Most important thing you can ever give anyone is encouragement.

I believe in you.

What a great smile! Everyone deserves a grandfather like Joe. The mold broke when he became one. We had the oppportunity to meet him through his granddaughter and her events. He was so proud of her and would say, “She’s your superstar. You just watch.” He was proud of his entire family. We were blessed to have met him and we know he is looking down on his family now with that great smile. Our loving thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Lupo family.
