Obituary

Jim Wood was born on October 27th, 1933 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jim was at home surrounded by the love of his family, in the days preceding his passing, on January 27, 2018. Jim enjoyed each of his 84 years and lived them to the fullest.

Jim was married to the one and only love of his life, Jody (Eckroth) Wood for 66 years. Together they had 3 children, Linda, Karen and Patty. Their family also includes son-in-laws Al Stearns, Vince Caiozzo, and Rick Konrad; 4 Grandchildren: Jenny, Amber, Katie and John; Great-Grandchildren: Elijah, Noelle, Julia, Gianna, and Dominic; Sister: Jo Logan and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

Jim enjoyed a long and successful career in the food and vending machine business.  Jim was a people-person; he had an engaging personality, a great sense of humor, and quickly made friends. Usually these friends became lifelong friends. Jim had a way of recognizing each person’s special qualities and bringing out the best in that person. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will always be in our hearts and memories.

Knowing Jim, as a neighbor and friend, has impacted our lives more than he ever knew. The one word to describe Jim would be a “mench.” This is a person that is good from the inside to out. All the things people have said in this guest book, describes Jim Wood.
IHe will be missed more than words can say.
We will always be there for you, Jody.

  3. Shelly and I have had the privilege of living next door to this wonderful man and his mate. What a fortunate thing for us to have shared 21 years with Jim and Jody. Jim was a good person in every sense of the word. He always had that fabulous smile , no matter what life sent his way. He and Jody have been blessed by a great family who are always there for them. We are here for you too, Jody, as we continue our lives so close to each other.

  4. Our deepest condolences to the Wood Family. Certainly a good man with a good family.

I knew Jim on two levels, as a friend and as a fellow board member for over 10 years now. His loss will be felt throughout Palmia. He was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, most caring people I have ever known.

For many years Jim was really the “Patriarch of Palmia.” He served as President for many years until he retired from the board and after that he continued to serve on various committees. You could always count on Jim and Jody being in the front row at board meetings.

His contribution to Palmia was ongoing for over 15 years. Hardly anything happened inside Palmia without Jim knowing about it. He served on so many committees it’s hard to remember all of them but here are a few, e.g., Activities, Landscape, Pool Deck renovation, Bocce court renovation, Shuffleboard renovation, Los Alisos Wall repair, Street renovation, and the Water Committee.

I think he just wanted to continue to serve the Palmia community. He will be missed.
