Obituary

Deane Girard Marfone
September 6, 1955- March 3, 2021

Deane passed away after a long battle with Atypical Parkinson’s at the age of 65.

Deane was born in Troy, New York to Patrick and Celia Marfone. They moved to King of Prussia, Pennsylvania when he was one. He went to Upper Merion High School and then on to Lehigh University. He moved to Southern California in the early 80’s but was always just a guy from Philly.

Singing the Lehigh Fight song at the top of his lungs, yelling “Let’s go Flyers” even when they weren’t the team that was playing, and a forever Eagles fan. He was beyond thrilled to see the Superbowl Win and kept saying ” I can’t believe they finally did it”.

Deane was in sales his whole career. He made many friends along the way and always kept in contact with them, asking about their families because Deane was first and foremost a family guy.

He was an amazing husband and father. Many of the friends he made came from coaching his kids on the soccer field, baseball diamond and softball field. If he wasn’t the coach, you always could hear Deane cheering on his kids from the sidelines. He was their number one fan.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Chris, his four children – Olivia (29), Isabella (28), Celia (27), and Vincent (25), his brother Patrick Jr. (wife, Linda), and his many nieces, nephews, and friends from coast to coast.

Funeral Service will be April 5th at Mission Basilica @ 11am

  2. Deane made everyone, at any age, feel comfortable when they were around him. Deane was always there for whoever needed assistance. I remember my mother telling me that she was there to assist her “baby” sister in bringing Deane home from the hospital in Troy when he was born. Above the hospital on a hill was the Field House of Rensselaer, where Deane saw his first hockey game with his Uncle Lew (my father) and I. It was then that Deane decided that he wanted to play hockey! He did indeed include that in his life from then on.
I will miss Deane’s humor, especially when things don’t seem to go right, but he had a knack for turning things around with the way he expressed himself, sometimes using Italian proverbs that our grandmother (Nana, to Deane) would share with us. Deane was like my younger brother, but instead, my cousin, Deane.

  3. RIP Deane Marfone. All who knew and loved you will miss your gentle, kind ways, and smiling face. You were a wonderful support for your family snd the Laguna Hills sports and academic programs. My heart goes out to Chris and the kids. You will be missed.
