“Helping the Bereaved Face the Holidays”
– Bereaved individuals usually dread the holidays especially during the first year after a loss. Individuals facing these “daunting days” look to you for guidance and for suggestions on how to negotiate with their family when there is disagreement about celebrations as well as reassurance that what their intense feelings during this period are normal. Join us as we learn together how to support individuals and families who are facing grief in this period from Thanksgiving to New Years Day.
Objectives. At the conclusion of this workshop, nurses will be able to…
- Communicate the normal intense feelings that accompany grief during the holidays
- Teach principles for good self-care including how to say no to the expectations of others
