“Facing the End: Helping Families Navigate Anticipatory Grief”

– Clergy provide important ministry to families in grief but have often received little training in doing so. In this workshop, we focus on issues related to anticipatory grief and the uncertainty of the future. We will talk about “hope” and how that differs from “denial.” Dr. Hoy will offer practical insights to clergy and congregational leaders on how to address the diverse spiritual issues present in the dying process. In addition, participants are introduced to the special needs for ministry of patients in hospice care, acute care hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities.
