Obituary
In loving memory of Veronica Pena Proulx My Baby Love
My Baby Love Veronica (Baby) Pena Proulx born in the Philippines May 15, 1967 the daughter of the late Atty Melecio Pena Sr. and the late Veronica Mendoza Pena starting her journey from God has passed away from cancer May 19, 2023 at the age of 56 and has gone to heaven completing her journey to God.
Veronica is survived by her husband (baby love) Russell Proulx of Costa Mesa Ca., Her siblings Dr. Fara Pena-Requierme her husband Orly of Reseda California, Ferdinand Pena his wife Solita their children Bettina and Bryan of Palmdale California, Gloria Victoria Pena-Garabato her husband Neal C. their children Neal Matthew P and Cleo Monique Garabato-Serrano of the Philippines, Dr. Melecio Pena III of the Philippines, Nadine Pena-Balce Her husband Arvin their son Marcus of Edmonton Canada.
Veronica was also preceded in death by her brother Melecio Pena Jr. and her sister Rosalinda Pena-Suapengco.
She graduated from University of Santo Tomas Manila, Philippines in English Studies. She went on to be an English teacher in multiple high schools in the Manila area. The outpouring of love from her students is a testament to the love Veronica had for them.
In 2002 she immigrated to the USA where she then worked as a caregiver in a Alzheimer’s facility. Her Friend Tet posted a profile on match.com where she found my profile and she contacted me. It was truly love at first sight. We met on July 12, 2008 and married on November 14, 2009.
She became a citizen of the USA. For her it was an honor and a privilege to get her citizenship.
Veronica then enrolls at Orange Coast Community College and received a certificate in childcare. Much like her students from the Philippines the toddlers she had in her care at the preschools she worked for instantly feel in love her. The Parents also loved her and were completely confident their babies got the care and love needed at their early age.
Veronica’s battle with cancer was long. She endured many surgeries and chemo therapy. You would never know because she always had a smile and was so caring and loving. The grace in which she exhibited throughout all of her trials is a testament to her heart and her god. She was thankful for every day she had.
My baby love was god’s gift to me. She enjoyed traveling together we went to Paris, Florence, Rome, Jerusalem, Mexico City, Oahu. She was a huge fan of Tom Brady and we traveled to see him play in San Francisco and Foxborough. We experience a World Series baseball game at Dodger Stadium. There were many fishing trips we shared. I am not sure how much she enjoyed those but she love catching more fish than me and never let me forget it.
I could go on and on how awesome she was but those who knew Veronica knew.

Veronica knew that our veterans are the reason we have the freedoms we have and the lives they gave to make this country so great that she was proud to be an American

Veronica-
What can I say other than the Summers family adored Veronica. She was an angel from heaven. She was so caring and patient with my mother when my mother was under her care at the Memory Home. Veronica was always the one to cheer my mother up with her laugh and smile. We will be forever grateful to Veronica.
Not many knew but Veronica and I shared the same birthday – May 15th and I would always wish her Happy Birthday but she would always beat me to it. She was truly an angel from heaven. Rest in peace, Veronica. We love you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
