Barber, Shizuko Ono, 80 of Lake Forest passed away on June 18, 2012. She is preceded into Heaven by daughter, Shirley Ann, and husband, Charles M. Sr.

Shizuko was from Yamagata, Japan but met and married a Marine in Yokohama. Together they raised their family of three in their 54 years together. Military life had them traveling till they finally settled in Orange County, California to make it home for 43 years. Shizuko will be remembered as the most loyal strong willed woman full of love, pride and strength, both for her heritage and family. Her strong passions were family, friends, and gardening. Her favorite activities were yelling ‘Bingo’, the Lottery, gardening, music, and shopping.

She is survived by her son, Charles; daughter, Theresa; and her grandchildren, Pablo, Vanessa, and Estela. The family is holding a private service.

The family asks for those wishing to contribute to Shizuko’s favorite charities to donate to The American Cancer Society, The Disabled American Vets, American Diabetes Association.

  2. Thankyou Debbie for your kind words, for my brother and I also remembered them great times growing up taking those trips to your families home. I know my Mom felt really close and connected to your Mom, another beautiful person. Aunt Esther became the “Go To Person” when it came to advice on family for my Mom. Now together, they are up in Heaven together keeping everyone in line and looking out for us all too. You and yours are in our thoughs as well.

  3. I was asked the other night,”What was her favorite color?” Mom’s favorite color would be as bountiful as flower fields in bloom. Although her favorite flowers were Orchids and The Cherry Blossoms. As colorful as you can imagine, we also have a nice blend of personalities and traits that are instilled in our family. Mom will be remembered both for her strong will so full of pride for her heritage and family and for her warm gentle ways that got her through life’s good times and bad. Rest In Peace…We Love You
