Obituary
DaPena, Ruth Violet
Born March 23,1925 in East Elmhurst, New York. Died October 25, 2018 in Mission Viejo.
We lost a bright light in our family. Ruth was a kind, loving, “glass half full” kind of person.
Ruth grew up in Whittier, CA. She married the love of her life when she was 16 years old, Joseph Hueso DaPena. They were very happy and family was number one to them. They also had a strong faith in God. They remained lovingly married for 62 years until he preceded her in death in 2003. She continued to be the head of the family and was an amazing example to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She fought breast cancer over 5 years ago and survived with her positive outlook on life. She was a very strong woman, living on her own until a few months before her death. She was truly a joy to be around and all of those around her were touched by her love and kindness.
She is survived by her 2 daughters and 1 son, her 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Joseph Swan.
There will be a gravesite service on November 3, at 1:00pm El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest, CA. A celebration of Life will follow the service. O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary Directors (949)581-4300
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Ruth’s name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

To Ruth’s family and friends,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. May the god of all comfort bring you comfort and peace during this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4) Death is such a cruel enemy yet Jesus assured us of a time when all those in the memorial tombs will arise and have the opportunity to enjoy unending life on a paradise earth where sickness, death and sorrow will not exist. If you would like to know more about this wonderful promise found at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:3, 4, please visit JW. org and search “when a loved one dies”.
Warmest Regards,
Wendy S

My condolences to the family and all who loved Ruth. The seeming finality of death is what makes it especially difficult. But we can have confidence that God yearns to bring back to life the dead who are preserved in his memory. (Job 14:14,15) His Word, the Bible, gives us a wonderful hope of living in a paradise on earth and seeing the resurrection of our dead loved ones. (Luke 23:43; John 5:28,29) May this bring you some comfort during this difficult time.
