Obituary

Ross Manuel Fontes, Sr., of Temecula, California born on January 24th 1940, passed away on December 13, 2005 at the age of 65. Loving and dearly loved husband for twenty years of Karen L. Fontes, beloved brother of Esperanza Fontes, adored father of Ross Jr., Elizabeth, Melissa and Gregg Fontes, and caring Stepfather to Tracy Monson and Steve Tilford. Cherished Grandpa to his step-grandchildren, Chad, Tommy, Garrett, Brittany, Kyle, Alyssa and the much anticipated Grandpa to his son Ross Jr.’s first baby boy, due in March 2006. Devoted son of the late Annie Hidalgo and Rosendo Gomez Fontes.

Owner and Founder of RMF Construction, a General Contractor with an extensive career in commercial construction and development, and distinguished Veteran of the United States Army. Ross leaves to his family and friends a legacy of hard work, good humor and independence. He walked his own path and laughed at his own jokes. He enjoyed his work, loved his family, cherished his close friends, and took special pleasure in regularly beating his son Ross at racquetball. He possessed a fun-loving, vigorous spirit. He was an original and he will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 ~ 10:00 A.M. at San Francisco Solano Church, Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Followed by a Graveside Service ~ 2:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetary, Riverside, California at Staging #5.

  1. Ross had the ability to connect with people in a way that was genuine and warm. As a newcomer to Orange County a few years ago, I met Ross through his dear friend and mine John Anderson, and the three of us had a standing racquetball game for several years. Ross would almost always win. As great as his game was, his care and concern for others was much greater. I am truly saddened by his loss and wish his family and close friends my deepest sympathy.

Thank you for being a great husband and provider for my mom. I can’t believe you are gone and I can not stop looking at your picture every day. I miss you so much.
