Richard William Schulz
May 21, 1931 – September 6, 2013

Lt. Col. Richard (Dutch) Schulz, USMC retired, passed away September 6, 2013 at the age of 82. He was born in Danville, Illinois to Kent and Irene (Shake) Schulz. Dutch joined the Marine Corps in 1950 and proudly served for 28 years. His service included tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. Dutch was the recipient of numerous citations and awards, including the Bronze Star and the Navy Commendation Medal. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, he was VP of Operations for Martin Container Service.

While in the Marine Corps, he married Nancy Rodda, a Woman Marine. They were married nearly 60 years until her death in March of 2012. Dutch is survived by his two children: Richard Schulz, Jr. (fiancé Jean) and Rodda Ellis (husband Mark); three grandchildren, Sarah Schulz, Christopher Ellis, Tristan Ellis (wife Kristin); and three great-grandchildren, Marcai and Julian Ellis, and Jayce Schulz.

He was preceded in death by his brother Brian and is survived by his sister-in-law, Sandy. He will be missed by his lifelong friend Ken Granitz.

Our dad made this world a better place and he will be in our hearts forever.
