Obituary

6 months, 15 days – that’s how long Pierce was in our lives.

Forever – that’s how long he’ll remain in our hearts.

Pierce Alexander Barata Trombino was born on April 30, 2011 to overjoyed parents, Rich and Angela, and excited big brother, Wyatt. Having Daddy’s eyes and Mommy’s lips, “Baby P”, as Wy affectionately called him, had a happy disposition from the start. Pierce loved watching his big bro sing and dance and seemed to relish in Wy’s unique style of entertainment. Daddy’s nightly arrival from a long day at work put a vibrant smile to Baby P’s beautiful face. Mommy’s caress brought him peace and tranquility.

At 3 weeks, doctors diagnosed Pierce with a heart defect and at 2 months with a disease called biliary atresia leaving him in need of a liver transplant. Through many visits and stays at CHOC (Childrens’ Hospital of Orange County) and UCLA, Pierce became a fixture at the hospitals where doctors and nurses knew him and would immediately recognize him as the baby with the striking eyes and extremely long lashes.

Family, friends and friends of friends stormed heaven with prayers for Baby P asking for his recovery. He united people and symbolized hope and inspiration. He persevered through his illness and demonstrated courage beyond his years.

In early November, doctors found that Pierce’s condition was worse than they ever thought. After being hospitalized for 5 weeks at CHOC and then UCLA and while surrounded by his loved ones, Pierce lost his hard fought battle.

With hearts filled with love and burdened by their loss, Daddy, Mommy and Wy-Wy will miss the simple pleasures they shared with Pierce. His curious eyes and jubilant smile will be permanently imprinted in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

  5. Although I have not seen Pierce in person, I felt connected to him through the love and passion displayed by his family. It was obvious that Pierce is special. I know Pierce is now much happier being in heaven. I was touched by the faith and love shown by the family during Pierce’s ordeal. I could have not agreed more with Ate Beli’s eloquent statements about Pierce. Our deepest condolences.
