Obituary
Phil was many things to many people: father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, mentor and friend. His love of learning and his love of the ocean made him “one of the good guys”. As we shared the news of his passing, we have received many wonderful comments about his integrity as well as his sense of humor. These attributes made him a beloved teacher in the Capistrano Unified School District.
He leaves behind two daughters, Vicki Vedder Sweet and Terri Vedder Hulbert. Phil has one surviving brother, John Graham Vedder. He was proud to have had two grandsons, Jeremy Sweet and Kyle Sweet and 4 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jake, Sydney and Sonya.
Phil lived a very full life and always had a positive attitude, even when facing adversity. He touched many lives in a positive way. We cherish our time with him – he will be missed!
Because of his life-long love of surfing and support of the Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center, we are suggesting that donations in Phil Vedder’s memory be made to SHACC, 110 Calle Iglesia, San Clemente, CA 92672
A Celebration of Life is planned for late Spring/early Summer

Phil, you not only taught me about cloud formations, but about kindness. I was lucky to have spent so much time with you while Vicki and I were a dangerous duo. Thanks for sharing your life with us all.
PS: And I STILL have a crush on you.
