Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother, Paul Bormann.  Paul passed peacefully on May 2, 2023, at age 67.  He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Paul was born in New York and later moved with his family to Minnetonka, MN.  He was the eldest child of Bob & Terrie Bormann and has two brothers, Peter and Bob and sister, Kathleen. Paul leaves behind his beloved wife of 34 years Yvonne and son Justin (33).

The 70s were a time of opportunity, innovation and great rock and roll music, which he loved.  Going to concerts and playing his favorite music were always a priority for Paul.  Paul’s amazing mechanical and creative aptitude was transmitted through his hands and works. His hobbies were almost too lengthy to list. His woodworking skills helped him build numerous pieces of furniture, boats and the airplane that his high school, Hopkins Lindbergh, built and gained notoriety for on the TV show, “Charles Kuralt, On the Road Again”.  He achieved Eagle Scout and was on the school swim team. His interest in remote control planes and cars prepared him for his career later in electronics.  He also restored some great cars. It seemed that being mechanically inclined came naturally to Paul. He loved to ski which is where he met his wife after moving to California in 1981 . He was known for being friendly especially to strangers.  Paul cherished lifelong friendships with his high school buddies and spending time with his family on Gull Lake near Brainerd, MN.  He also explored much of Europe on bicycle shortly after college.  Paul helped son Justin through the ranks of scouting to achieve his Eagle award as well. He enjoyed watching Justin take on his favorite instrument, the trumpet, and play in numerous high school band competitions.  Paul loved going to swap meets, surplus stores and just stores in general because he was sure something he needed would be there. He loved the thrill of the hunt.

While the last few years were particularly challenging for Paul, he always did his best to minimize the pain and express heartfelt love to his family and friends.  We will always remember him.
