Obituary
Nancy L Hindman, 44, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at her home in Irvine, CA, with her family at her side. She had been battling breast cancer for almost nine years.
She is survived by her husband of eleven years, John Hindman and her two daughters, Ashley and Emily.
She leaves behind her mother Xinh Atwood; her sisters Roslyn Atwood, Zella Talbot, Lorraine Ortiz, Hoa Kim Nguyen, ThuCuc Panh, TuyetNhung Nguyen, Sharon Torres, and Alice Atwood; as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Atwood; and her sisters Cathy Barry, Jeanette Atwood, and Hue Nguyen.
The daughter of Edward and Xinh Atwood, Nancy was born in Thu Duc, Vietnam on March 31, 1973. At the age of two, she moved to Banning, CA and was ultimately raised in Orange County, CA. She attended Saddleback High School and proceeded to receive her bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University, Long Beach. After graduating, Nancy had a very successful career in financial services. In fact, it is while working as a financial analyst at Allianz Global Investors that she met the man who would ultimately become her husband.
In 2006, she married John, and they moved to Irvine where she focused on making a family and being a mother. In 2007, she gave birth to their first daughter, Ashley; and in 2009, she gave birth to their second daughter Emily. It was while pregnant with Emily when she received the devastating news that she had developed breast cancer. From that point forward, Nancy fought with all of her strength to beat the disease. She was a fighter like none other. In fact, when she first learned that her cancer had metastasized to her liver, she was told only 2% survive her disease to which she responded, “You are looking at one of the 2%.”
Nancy and her family loved to travel. One of her favorite trips took the family to Lourdes, France: Our Lady of Lourdes, Site of Healing and Hope where she bathed in the Sacred Bath of Lourdes. She never gave up the fight. She truly loved her life here on earth with her family and we loved her. She will be so dearly missed. She is now at peace in Heaven.
Viewing and Rosary will take place on Monday, November 13 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at O’Connor Mortuary at 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 9 Hillgate, Irvine, CA 92612 followed by a reception at 11:30am at Shady Canyon Country Club at 100 Shady Canyon Dr, Irvine, CA 92603.
