Obituary

Nancy Ellen Knittle

Nancy was born September 27, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Growing up in Racine, Wisconsin in the “big white house” across the street from Lake Michigan which she had such fond memories of. After finishing high school she attended University of California Santa Barbara, graduating in the late 1950’s with a degree in Home Economics. Upon graduation she worked for the gas company teaching women how to cook their meals using gas ovens. Once she had children she poured her heart into being a stay at home mom raising her two children David and Debra. You would often see Nancy volunteering at the school library, PTA and Girl Scout meetings. Her love of dogs led her to volunteer at local shelters and dog adoption events. Nancy had many dogs as pets throughout her life including her beloved Collies as a child.

Nancy was a life-long member of PEO International where she worked on philanthropic projects that helped “Women achieve their highest aspirations through education”.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Arnold Fawcett and Ellen Fawcett, her sister-in-law Patricia Fawcett. She is survived by her brother Dr. William Fawcett (Laverne), son David (Leslie), daughter Debra, five grandchildren – Jason (Christina), Heather (Josh), Lindsey, Cassandra (Kyle) and Jacob, five great grandchildren – Jaxon, Emma, Savannah, West and Cooper, niece Barbara Wyche (Chris).

To honor her love of dogs the family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Nancy’s favorite charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation – dorisdayanimalfoundation.org.
