Obituary

Mildred Louise Hokenson 1911 2010 finally received her wish of entering into the presence of Jesus on February 6, 2010. Born in Gladbrook, Iowa to George and Minnie Koster, she graced all those around her with her sweet, loving, and uncomplaining spirit for 98 years. She was married to William Hokenson for 56 years and lived a full and contented life for her twenty-two remaining years as a widow. She loved serving in her church, studying the Bible, playing the piano with friends, and correcting Bible lessons for prisoners. As her physical strength declined, her mind and spirit remained strong. She worked cross-word puzzles daily, beat us all at Rummikub, and watched her favorite game shows on TV. She prayed for her loved ones, and as an avid reader, devoured books of all kinds—even those with small print!

Mildred was a grand lady who will be greatly missed by her four children, Carolyn Jay Goodin, Ed Hokenson, Linda John Paasonen, and Paul Hokenson, as well as 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and sister Alice Wheater. Her legacy lives on.
