Mike was one of the finest human beings i will ever have the privilege of knowing. We would have our morning coffee and chat when i taught at Garfield High. He always had a unique way of seeing the world that i will remember for the rest of my life. His students loved him and he always found ways to engage them in meaningful lessons. “Sun-treader, light and life be thine forever”…

I cant believe it!
My Home Room, English teacher.
1985 Grad.GHS
I have so much to say… I have been searching to contact him for many years. He was my confidant at GHS, when I was going thru crap with family.
Many mornings before my nursing class he listened to me. Said a few words, guidance. Helping him with paperwork.
I had him sign a book of author Buscaglia,, because he gave me a book from that author.
Asked me to stop talking with high emphasis on the tone of my voice as I end sentences. Basically not wine! Lol
He let me visit his home and met his wife. I can go on.
But I truly am thankful for being in my life, his encouragement ment a lot to me. I could see how he helped other student that didnt want it, that were giving up.
I joined the Army and lost touch.
I am thankful for his service. He shared a few memories about still hearing helicopters. I am glad being in Vietnam didnt stop him from being courageous, helpful, kind , being married, having a son. God bless him and family.
I will post a picture later.
