“First she was a name on my AFS files. She was gonna be my American AFS mom. I did not know anything about her yet from her letter and the pictures I liked her. When I arrived to LAX on the hot August day of 1974, she was there standing for me with Joey and Dad. They were carrying a signboard with my name on it. When I walked towards to her she opened up her arms and hugged me just like my mother and I felt the love and comfort of her existence. This feeling had been gone through all those years with a growing love.
She thought me many things and I had learnt alot from her about life and humankind… But the most important thing was the love. You could feel her love all the times… It was like an essence of life to me. To feel her loving care as a mother I felt deeply responsible for all of my actions and I tried not to hurt her in any occasion. When my AFS year ended I knew that I have a mother in Mission Viejo and a home that I can be protected with love all life long… We had shared loving memories of 36 years with mom. She was the grandmother of my children and loved them too with her loving heart.
Eight months ago, on February 2010 I had the chance to be with her. I felt the deep love of her, she was sick and getting tired easily, yet I was her son and she wanted me to feel her love and comfort and rested me near by side to her and as always she had cooked her famous dinner so that we all can share the same table as a family.
We hugged and kissed on my way to the airport, somehow we were both having the same feeling that we might not be able to see each other again. She gave me her blessings once again…
Now she went to a land of lights. Her soul is in rest and happiness. She had done all of her duties as the universe wishes, she had loved the universe and human kind and tried not to hurt anybody. I know that she will take care of us from heaven with her loving soul.
May she rest in peace and enlighten the universe with her love… Amen”.

    Her son Mete…
