Obituary
Mary Ann Rucinski, 81, passed into the arms of the Lord at her home in Laguna Woods, California on the morning of Tuesday, 4/19/2016. Mary Ann was born January 22, 1935 in Santa Barbara, California and was an Orange County, California resident for the past two years.
Mary Ann is survived by her brother Harold, four children Robert, Lawrence (Angela), Denise (Paul) and Susan (Dan), nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert, mother Pearl and father Nicholas.
Mary Ann met Bob, the love of her life in 1952, at age 17, during a picnic with some friends. She
was a medical office assistant at the time, but she switched to being a full time mom after their marriage in 1953. She returned to her career after her kids were grown, and Mary Ann always remained a devoted wife and mother who lived life to the fullest. Her family was always a priority.
The last 19 years of retirement were among some of the happiest years of Mary Ann and Bob’s life. They lived in a retirement community in Hemet, California where they enjoyed an active social life, several trips to visit their son, Larry and family in Europe and Singapore, cruises and most of all,
visiting their kids and grandchildren. During this time, Mary Ann became a devout Christian and always leaned on God for strength and hope, even during her illness.
At heart, Mary Ann was a perpetual 39-year old who was kind, lovable..and who would do anything for her family and friends. She will be missed immensely.
Please join Mary Ann’s family for a memorial celebration honoring their mom, grandma and ‘GG.’ (‘Great Grandma’). Mary Ann’s wish is for no black attire during her memorial. Please consider wearing brightly colored clothes, even flowered if you wish, to celebrate mom’s bright spirit.
Date: Saturday, June 11th, 10 a.m. memorial service with lunch reception to follow.
Location: Mariners Church Chapel, 5001 Newport Coast Dr., Irvine, CA 92603, http://www.marinerschurch.org/irvine/.
Since Mary Ann couldn’t stand the thought of any child going through what she had experienced, the family would like to suggest that, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County,
