Obituary

Mark P. Wolfson, 83, a longtime resident of Villa Park, California, passed away on March 2, 2024. He was born to David and Jeanette Wolfson on July 19, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois. Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Catherine McCarthy (Kitty) Wolfson, daughter Alexandra (Bryan) Celano, son Jason Wolfson, three grandchildren: RoseElle Wolfson, Everett Wolfson and Katie Celano, and brother Blake (Elon) Kleckner. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Mark moved to California in 1966, after serving in the US Army for three years at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Shortly after arriving in California, Mark met Kitty, his soulmate. They eventually settled in Villa Park, where they raised their two children. In 1968, Mark graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in history and psychology from California State University of Long Beach. He went on to have a successful business career eventually establishing his own Executive Search firm, Winngate Rogers. After retiring at the young age of 53, he remained active, whether enjoying time with family and friends or pursuing his many interests, hobbies, and volunteer activities. An avid fitness enthusiast, Mark worked out virtually every day of his life. He loved photography and videography, capturing all of the special moments from family celebrations over the years, filling dozens and dozens of photo albums, video cassettes, DVDs and slide shows. Mark was always interested in the latest gadgets and technology whether it was the first cell phone on the market back in the 70’s to the latest computers and televisions. Mark was also a trusted financial advisor to family and friends and cared deeply for his springer spaniels, Smokey and Newton.

Mark’s presence was always felt in a big way from his wacky sense of humor to his quick wit and charming personality. His antics often had family and friends in stitches. Those that knew and loved Mark were incredibly blessed to have him in their lives. He will be dearly missed.
