Obituary

Marjorie ‘Marge’ Birk, beloved mother of Richard (wife, Annette) and Robert (wife, Selena), was born in Chicago, Illinois. Marge is also survived by grandchildren Kirsten Mayers (husband, Dave), Scott Birk, Jennifer Birk, and great-grandchildren Reid Mayers, Matt Mayers, Kelsey Mayers, and Griffin Birk. Marge, having passed the milestone of 100 years, passed away on July 31, 2013.

Marge had a very successful career in the women’s clothing business, having various locations in the Chicagoland area.

After selling her businesses and retiring, she moved to Laguna Woods (formerly Leisure World) in the early 1980’s. Marge continued her active lifestyle, organizing and participating in numerous activities. She was active in the Pinochle Club, bingo, lawn bowling, and golf, among many other activities. Marge also organized bus trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Del Mar during the racing season.

As Marge realized the effects of age were catching up with her, she called on her good friend from bingo, Rose Cook. Rose had recently opened an assisted living facility (Rose’s Loving Care Home in Mission Viejo). Marge entered the home, and spent the last 8 years under the loving care of Rose and her wonderful caregivers, Rose’s employees at her facility.

Graveside Service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 21, at Ascension Cemetery, 24754 Trabuco Rd., Lake Forest, CA.
