Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Monya Estelle Popoff on July 19, 2022. She passed away peacefully at Mission Valley Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 21, 1936, in Los Angeles, California to Harry and Sarah Korbett. She survived by her husband John J Popoff, they were high school sweethearts who married on March 11, 1956, and lived a beautiful life together for 66 years. She was the beloved mother of John, Mark and Kim and was a proud grandmother Tom, Jay, Sarah, as well as a great grandmother to Mia, Nate and Boedy.

Monya’s life was filled with all the things she loved, she cherished her family and she often reminisced about her time with her amazing friends and their crazy adventures together. Her life has made lasting memories that have meant so much to all of us, countless camping trips across California, traveling around the world with the Heritage Club, and making every celebration with the people she loved special.

Her faith was very important to her, a Bible verse that reflects her love for all of us; John 16:22 “Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.”

The Funeral Service will be held graveside on Thursday morning August 4, 2022, starting at 11:00 a.m. The address for the Cemetery is: El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Rd, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
