Obituary

Margaret A. DeVore (Brady), age 87 of Laguna Woods Village, CA, died August 21, 2012, in Laguna Niguel, CA.

Born March 19, 1925, in Chicago, IL to Lawrence J. & Thyra Brady. She graduated from St. Xavier University, received a Masters from Loyola University, as well as a degree in Theology from St. Joseph’s College. She was an admired teacher of art, music, high school English and Latin, founder of the Latin Club, and revived the Great Books Foundation in her community. Her strong faith guided her to minister as Director of the RCIA Program, Church organist, Choir Director, and Bible Study Leader.

Margaret and her husband relocated to Laguna Woods in 2000 where she enjoyed her Faith Sharing Group and love of Creative Memories.

Margaret is survived by husband, Deacon Robert S. De Vore; children Robert S. DeVore Jr (Lina), Patricia A. Grove, Lawrence J. DeVore (Jennifer), Joseph J. DeVore (Monica); sister, Patricia Lersten (Ron); brother-in-law, Rev John C. DeVore, MSFS; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Therese.

In California, Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi, 27231 Aliso Viejo Pkwy, Aliso Viejo, CA on Thursday, August 30, at 10 AM. Burial will take place in Hammond, Indiana. The family requests that in lieu of flowers monetary donations be sent to South County Outreach (www.sco-oc.org).

In Indiana, Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Bosco, 7113 Columbia Ave, Hammond, IN on Saturday, September 8, at 10 AM, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be sent to St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. John Bosco Church.
