Obituary

Leonardo (Leonard) Perez Limtiaco
September 21, 1940 – March 22, 2024

Leonard, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Asan, Guam in 1940 and was the fifth child of nine (four boys and five girls). His father was a school bus driver and his mother was a homemaker. After graduating from George Washington High School where he was the valedictorian, he attended two years at the University of Guam. He received a scholarship to Portland State College (now Portland State University) and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. After returning to Guam, he married Maxima Cruz and they had their first child, Steve. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he worked as a research chemist. There, they had their second child, Lisa. They moved shortly after to Cincinnati, Ohio where Gordon was born. He began working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration as a federal inspector and manager where he would remain until retirement in 2007. The job was an adventure which took him and his family to Louisiana, Idaho, Alaska, and Nevada. He enjoyed his job and was known for being an intelligent, ethical and hard worker who developed and maintained deep friendships with those he encountered. He also enjoyed piano, hunting and fishing. After retirement, he and Maxima moved to Southern California to be closer to their three children and grandson, Aaron. After a fall on March 18, he went into a coma and did not recover. He received Last Rites and passed away peacefully on March 22 accompanied by his family. He will be remembered for his love of God and his Catholic faith, serving as a Eucharistic minister and RCIA sponsor, his dedication to his family, his humility and cheerfulness. He will be greatly missed.
