Obituary
In loving memory of Dr. Kent C. Wright
Dr. Kent Crandall Wright, 79, of Lake Forest, California, passed away on December 18, 2018, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Kent was born in Modesto, California, on November 28, 1939, to Lamon Johnson Wright and Ruby Adeline Crandall. Kent attended Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, California. After graduating from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, he went on to develop a vibrant equine veterinary practice here in Orange County, California for over 30 years.
Kent had many passions, including horse breeding and racing, poker, travel, cooking, and videography.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents, Lamon and Ruby. Kent is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Kelly Nelson-Wright; son, Jeffrey Wright, and grandchildren, Maia Wright and Peter Wright; son, Kevin Wright, his wife, Kirsten Wright, and grandchild, Nora Wright; brothers, Gary Wright and Lane Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the selfless caregivers and wonderful friends who loved Kent so well during the last years of his life.
A celebration of Kent’s life will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2019. For information about the celebration, please contact Kelly Nelson-Wright (kentwrightcelebration@gmail.com). My relationship with Dr. Wright started out as my “go to” vet for several horses I owned and evolved to Kent as a friend and Veterinarian. My immediate and lasting impression was that of a talented individual who was a straight shooter and committed to his profession. A standout experience was one of my horses under treatment with an elusive diagnosis but glaring symptoms. Kent dove into the issue and after much time and effort referred me to the Chino teaching hospital. Unfortunately, the condition proved to be terminal. My relationship with Kent mitigated the anguish that I felt and went thru. I will always cherish my relationship and friendship with Kent in the years that followed.

That gleam in his eye, that little dance he did, his love for Kelly, his love for his sons and family, his wit, his humor, his intelligence, his endurance, his work ethic and most of all, his huge, kind heart. I learned from Kelly how to take care of a loved one with such love and compassion. I will remember Kent’s many stories, sharing his knowledge of his profession and his love for horses. Most of all I will remember his loyal friendship and his kind heart. Will miss you dear Doc,.

1993-2018 what a wonderful journey Irani Family enjoyed with The Wright Family. Kent you were an integral part of this timeline. Dinners, horse race, cruising, poker and so many fun years we enjoyed, your robust energy and enthusiasm. Enjoyed your quirky sense of humour and admired what you believed in. You were a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and for us a fun loving friend. Loved your passion for horses and enjoyed your horse stories. We will NEVER forget you Kent. To Dr. Kent Wright. What can we say but we will miss you. Your kind heart, your fun loving ways, your love of horses (I totally understand), your desire for that great big delicious (I don’t know how many ounce) steak, your devotion to friends and taking care of them and making them feel welcome. Your love for your family. Your kindness that will never be forgotten. The understanding and kindness you’ve always shown. The special kindness that I experienced from you and Kelly. The wonderful friendship that we all developed. The fun times of traveling, playing games, “dancing”, and just enjoying the company of true friends. There is no greater gift in life than to have a friend like you. If I could send you “cherry yummy” in heaven, I would. Thank you for the most wonderful gift of all, your friendship.
