Obituary

Kathryn Eileen David at rest March 26, 2008 in Laguna Hills, CA. Born on March 20, 1919 in Montgomery Township, Minnesota by Thomas P. Loftus and Margaret Loftus. Eileen graduated from Sherman High School in Montgomery. Eileen moved to St. Paul and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business.

She worked for the CEO at the Montgomery Wards Department Store in St. Paul, MN. A wedding was solemnized at St. Vincent’s Cathedral in Los Angeles, California at 9:00 am on Saturday morning October 23, 1937, when Miss Kathryn Eileen Loftus and Mr. William Frances David exchanged vows. Rev. Father O’Connor performed the ceremony and read the nuptial mass. The honeymoon trip was to San Francisco, Yosemite and Boulder Dam, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. David made their home in Los Angeles, CA and later bought a home in Downey. Several years later, they sold and bought a home in Whittier.

While in Los Angeles Bill and Eileen gave birth to their son Robert W. David on August 12, 1938. While living in Downey they gave birth to a daughter Patricia M. David on July 30, 1944. They shared married life for 49 1/2 years together. They enjoyed the Newman’s Catholic Couple’s group in Whittier. Eileen and Bill also enjoyed dancing with couple friends and family to Big Band music at clubs. Eileen enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and golf with her local Laguna Hills Arthritis Foundation. Eileen participated in the Arthritis Fashion Show and Coordinated the Arthritis Foundation speakers for the monthly luncheons.

Eileen enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She especially loved her 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother. She worked hard to keep the family together laughing and playing together. Eileen and Bill enjoyed traveling together in their retirement years. They traveled to the Yucatan, Mexico, all the Caribbean Islands, Catalina Island, Maui and the Big Island, Hawaii and the great United States of America. Eileen and her daughter, Patti, continued their travels together on cruise ships to Catalina Island, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands and Minnesota until 2002. Eileen and Bill loved boating with their family and fishing on lakes in California and Minnesota. Eileen is survived by her son Bob and her daughter Patti; grandchildren Rodney, Natalie, Steve, Sharlene, Darron; and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Samantha, Joya, Cory, Shelby and Mickaylea; and brothers Roy, Bob and was preceded in death by her brother Dick. She has numerous nieces and nephews.

Her memorial vigil will be at O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary on Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 pm, The Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 4 at 9:00 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church and the graveside services at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest. Local arrangements have been entrusted in the care of O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653, 949 581-4300. Donations to the Arthritis Foundation, the Cancer Society, or Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 220 Commerce, Ste. 100, Irvine, CA 92602 are requested in lieu of flowers.
