Obituary

Katherine G. Martinez, “Rosie the Riveter,” was born November 26, 1921 from the Gomez/Valero and Beyer/Donovan family. She is the last of her siblings, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She had 34 nieces and nephews, four who predeceased her. She leaves behind six children, 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild. She is survived by her children, MaryAnn Ordonez, Rudolph Valadez, Ray Valadez, Yolanda Willis, Sylvia German, and Roseann Lemas.

She worked as a World War II female worker at an aircraft manufacturing plant assigned to do riveting and electrical wiring. Her friends knew her as “Katy the Riveter.” She will be remembered as always keeping her youth and staying in fashion.
