Obituary

Jola Jourdan led an extraordinarily amazing life. First and foremost she gave her life to Jesus in her twenties and raised her family to believe in Jesus. We are so happy she now resides with Him in heaven. Jola traveled the world with her daughters, Summer, Jade and Jonte’. She loved visiting her sons Steven and Tim, daughter-in-law Robin, grandchildren Shauna and Robert in Oregon City, OR. She was an amazing cook, baker, gardener, flower arranger, painter, clothing designer, seamstress and the most incredibly loving and caring mother. She was crazy over her babies and learned how to do all of that to provide them a wonderful life. She more than succeeded.
Jola was born in Pomona, Illinois on January 16, 1927 to Adam Cripps and Myrtle Alice Hickam Cripps. She was 1 of 10 children born to Adam and Myrtle. The family moved to Portland, OR when she was 9 years old. She excelled in the public school system from being coached at home by her dad and graduated early at the age of 16. She moved to Seattle, then California and back to Portland where she settled to raise her family. Once they were raised, she joined Jade and Jonte’ in New York City for a couple of years. She moved with Jade and Jonte’ to California to be on the west coast, closer to her kids in Oregon. After about 5 years in Los Angeles, they returned to Oregon to sell Jola’s house. That took about 6 years and then the trio returned to south Orange County where they bought Jola’s dream house. She loved living in her house and being able to go to heaven from there was a wish fulfilled.
Jola is in heaven with her best friend Jesus and joins her daughter Jonte’ who went there March 13, 1997. Her children love her immensely and will miss her like crazy and look forward to joining her and Jonte’ in heaven when their time on earth is finished.

Dear Mommy- I will miss you so much. You were the most amazing woman I have ever met. So blessed that you are my mom. I will see you in heaven when finished down here. Love, Jade

Jola, Jade and Jonte were our neighbors for 17 years and we were always more than neighbors. We were (and still are) “soulmates” and people with heart. Jola was more than a grandmother and mother to us- she was awesome!! Jola, we love you so much and are relieved that you have been received into Heaven- you are are real angel. Heaven is where you belong now.

  3. Jola was an amazing woman in so many ways but the thing I remember most is that she delighted in the company of her friends. No matter how many guests came to her home, she always greeted each one as if they were the most important person in the world. She was a bon vivant, way ahead of her time. I’ll miss her.

  5. I wanted to let you know I’m thinking about you. Losing a mother is tough, no matter what her age is. While you can find comfort in her release from the pain of this life, the thought of a daughter without a mother is hard. I lost my Mom a couple of months after I turned 20. I remember the first time it really hit me. I didn’t have a Mom anymore. I wasn’t sure how to function without her. But I also remember how kind God was to comfort me and fill my mind with memories and thoughts of her. Be sure that He will do the same for you. I came to realize that Mom will always be just that, no matter where she is. And that means I will always be her daughter as you will always be a cherished daughter. It’s been over 30 years now and I still find great joy in that. I trust you will do the same. God bless you.
