Our dear father, John D. Barrett, (89) passed away on Friday, February 8th. John was born in Ossining New York, to Joseph A. and Adeline (Schnell) Barrett. John graduated from Ossining High School and later married Marguerite (Peggy) and they spent 65 wonderful years together until our mother passed away in 2014. They loved their family and loved to travel. Due to our father’s work with Mobil Oil, they had the opportunity to travel extensively and lived in many different places that included London, Halifax, Nova Scotia, St. John’s Newfoundland, Tokyo and Singapore. They retired to Mission Viejo, CA in 1992.
Retirement did not slow down the travel that he and Peggy so loved. They continued to travel around the country and around the world.
Our parents were long-time volunteers at Mission Hospital. Many will remember Dad’s warm and friendly greeting at the Main Desk when entering the hospital. He and Peggy were quite the team.
As much as John loved traveling the world with Peggy, nothing was more important to them than their family.
