Jo-Anne Theresa Glassock

Dearly beloved Jo-Anne Theresa Glassock passed away on March 20, at the age of 76, in Laguna Woods, California.

Jo-Anne was born in Toronto, Canada in St. Michaels Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Irene (Dollin) Bourke; her father Patrick Bourke of Ontario, Canada and by her sister Victoria Bourke. 

 As a young girl, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada she excelled in dressage horsemanship and won many trophies.  As a teen-ager she migrated to the USA, first to Paris, Kentucky, then to Albuquerque, New Mexico (where she completed High School), Kansas City, Missouri and finally to Southern California. Her initial career was as an Inhalation Therapist. She graduated from Santa Monica College with a Nursing degree and worked as an Intensive Care and Emergency Room Nurse at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Little Company of Mary Hospital. She met her future husband, Richard J. Glassock, MD at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.  They were married in Palos Verdes, California on May 21, 1977.

 In addition to her love for horses and nursing, she pursued a hobby of interior decorating, floral preparations and sales.  She and her husband were devoted to each other and traveled widely.  On April 29, 1985 they were joined by a newborn son, Mark Andrew Glassock bringing the family to four children, including Ellen, Scott, and Sharon, from a prior marriage of her husband.  In 1992 she, Richard and Mark moved to Lexington, Kentucky where Richard had accepted a new position at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.  They returned to Laguna Niguel, California in 1999 when Richard retired.

Jo-Anne was known for her beauty, vivaciousness and charm.  She had many dear friends and made new ones very easily. 

She is survived by her husband Richard, her son Mark and step- children Ellen Reiner, Scott Glassock and Sharon Lampe,  nine grand-children and six-great grand-children   She also leaves behind half-sisters Maureen (Bourke) McGuiness and Sheila (Bourke) LeBlanc of Canada and her niece Victoria (Gibson) McAllister of Washington, USA.  Jo-Anne was much loved by Richard and by her large family.  She will be greatly missed.

 

A Celebration of Life is planned but no date or site has yet been determined.
