“Grandma Jeri”

On October 6, our world lost a very special person – Geraldine Mildred Martini. Jeri was born in New York on July 22, 1926, to Chester Blase Pinto and Josephine Stile Pinto. Her family moved to California when she was 13. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Edward Oreste Martine. Married in 1947, they embarked on their journey together. They had four children: Edward Blase Martini, Josephine Ann Moothart, Thomas Steven Martine and Peter James Martini. She touched so many lives in her 90 years of life.

Grandma Jeri cherished her family. Jeri and Eddie loved music, dancing and laughing with friends and family. Sadly, the love of her life passed very early, although she found comfort in her family, friends, church and work.

Eddie and Jeri moved to Dana Point in 1986. Soon after, she joined the staff as the “cook” at All Bright Preschool, to help their daughter, and “Grandma Jeri” was born. She began a new and rewarding career, feeding, nurturing and caring for hundreds of preschoolers (and their parents). After 14 years, she joined the staff at St. Edwards School, where she worked for several years, before “retiring”. Wherever she was, she always showed genuine love and affection to all children, as a loving Grandma would. Her career also brought her countless friends, through the families she met working in childcare.

She is survived by her youngest brother, Chester B. Pinto II, 3 of her children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation Wednesday October 19, 2016 7:00pm to 9:00pm at O’Connor Mortuary. Funeral Mass Thursday October 20, 2016 11:00am at St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, CA.
