Obituary

Geraldine Breen Havert, 93, was born October 19, 1918 in Palmyra, New York and passed away March 22, 2012 in Laguna Hills, CA. Geraldine worked as an Assistant Librarian for 10 years, raised six children, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul, American Cancer Society, and Saddleback Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Schneider; sons Larry, Bill and Steve; sisters Madelene Sauer and Betty Benzel, brother Jim Breen; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Ray, daughter Barbara Nelson, and son Jim; sister Bernice Wood, brothers Dick Breen and Dave Breen.

Gerry was the heart-center of her family, immediate and extended. She died peacefully with courage, strength, love and compassion the same qualities that she embodied during her lifetime. She accepted her death with the same spirit with which she embraced her life with all its challenges and joys. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in our hearts.

A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 24252 El Toro Rd., Laguna Woods, CA. Burial at Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest, CA. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
