George, 79, passed away after battling Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by wife of 56 years, Niki and their two children John and Alexis, granddaughter Jana Anderson, grandson Michael Hirt and brother Michael Jacovides of Belmont, Mass.

George was born in New York City to parents John and Mary, both Greek immigrants. After earning a Marketing degree from New York University, he served four years in the US Air Force as a First Lieutenant. After completing his tour, he pursued a career in advertising sales, working for Chilton Publishing Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 18 years, eventually becoming a publisher for variety of trade publications. George moved his family to southern California in 1978 to work for Newport Communications, Inc. He retired after 22 years with the company as publisher for a number of trucking magazines. He was highly respected by his long-time customers and competitors alike. George loved golf and the New York Yankees. George was a founding member of St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine, CA. He was also a founding member of Mission Viejo Country Club, where his fellow members honored him in April.

George was a man of great integrity and a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, Thursday, September 13th, 2012, at 10 AM.
